Acupuncture can help an individual create and maintain a sense of balance in his/her life.

Acupuncture and balance

Modern American life tends to create hectic schedules for many people, even our children. This in turn creates physical responses such as tension, pain, digestive upsets and fatigue. Unlike a short-term event, these long-term physical reactions accumulate over time. Our bodies respond with blood pressure increases, anxiety, depression, and muscle and joint pain to name a few.
According to Chinese medicine (of which acupuncture is one major aspect), any strong emotion or long-term mental and physical stressors interrupt the smooth flow of life energy (chi). Our bodies have pathways for this energy flow, similar to a highway system. Just like with a traffic jam, our energy can be blocked in these pathways, leading to physical symptoms.
Acupuncture works to alleviate these symptoms by unblocking the pathways, allowing the chi to flow smoothly once again, like moving the accident and allowing traffic to move on the expressway. It also improves blood circulation, providing more oxygen to muscles and organs and removing toxins. In addition, acupuncture creates a calmer physical state that decreases heart rate and lowers blood pressure while also relaxing the muscles and relieving tension pain.
The time and effort devoted to an acupuncture treatment provide the benefit of smoother functioning in daily life. Those minor annoyances that previously led to conflicts or arguments can be let go and relationships can be easier. Both family life and work become more enjoyable.
