Depression is widely prevalent across the globe and in many age groups. It does not spare any sex or any economic categorization. Here are the results of a small sample survey that I conducted over a website.I would publish the reactions of respondents in a series of two or three pages here. You are invited to contribute freely.

Depression

I have been wondering and stunned by the large incidence of depression affected persons in or around me and was really eager to conduct a sample survey as to what one word reasons can be put forward by various readers of this journal-as the sole cause of major stream of depression in them.So please do help me and help yourself by reading and commenting with such one word reasons. I would be more than glad to let all concerned have the overall outcome of this sample survey. I intend to receive such responses till well into the new year.

So folks do volunteer!

Read some responses that I got:

I think the word deppression is used as a crutch for life becoming too much to handle. It can happen, I've been there and whats worse the medicatins add even more issues, like damage to your body and mind sometimes. I may sound harsh, but I do understand after having taking meds to help with my chronic pain. I was told I was depressed. I was angry and disappointed and a few other choice words. I could of chosen to drink or turn to illegal drugs and even worse become damaging to myself by cutting the pain away. There's a lot I could say on ths subject but this isn't the place. Great write as you can see you excited my emotions.

i have two words:

1) abuse

2) insanity (psychosis) (that may be counted as two words)

Medically, everyone knows that depression is the result of "chaotic" chemicals in the brain. However, if I put my "Clinical training" to the side and just answered this with a psychological point of view, I would have to say that "Loss" would be the one word that I would choose. I give this answer only due to during my counseling sessions with clients, the end result always goes back to the point of some type of "Loss". Not necessarily the "loss" or death of a loved one, that does give a contribution to the condition. When I say "Loss" I am referring to the loss of the person themselves in some aspect. They've lost their path in life and this may include a wide variety of different elements.

Nice concept with this write! Well done! Blessings.

One Word
Like many before me one word doesn't sum it up but the formost one word for me would have to be an inferiority (complex)
Thanks to four older brothers telling me I was useless constantly.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

purposelessness

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

stress: is a key factor to depression, overbearing bosses; a multitude of children under 7 yrs of age, money woes, unfaithful partners, lack of support from loved ones, stress is as debilitating as any disease wearing down your exterior but, imploding your inner self to sink into a depressive mode of being, affecting everyone around you

I would include more

but you have a starting point and you can contribute freely

It is hard to describe self and I would simply state that I am an inconsequential, unimportant and common individual that has the nature's donation in form of ability to deep-think all abstract.

Find something you are passionate about and do it. Volunteering to help a cause is great.
