If you want to get rid of tension, stress, pain, or breathing difficulties, there's nothing better than Aromatherapy.

Applying Aromatherapy at home

The term Aromatherapy can be used to include mineral baths, massage oils, bath soaps, perfumes, facial, body, skin and hair care products as well as air freshening sprays and lamp diffusers, but, of course, it is important to use the right oils for the right purpose. This might be for the relief of stress and tension, the alleviation of pain and breathing difficulties, and so on.

The sources of aromatic oils are flowers, leaves and roots of certain plants and the bark and wood of various trees When used these oils can be heated for steam or mixed with each other.

Many therapists have found that, although there may be no conclusive scientific evidence to prove the curative powers of aromatherapy, it can treat many common ailments with good results, and that there are no side effects if done properly. Apart from that, the oils are easy to apply or use and treatment can be given to anyone anywhere regardless of age and gender.

For the relief of stress and tension and the alleviation of pain, why not try the following -

When your bathtub is full, mix six to eight droplets of aromatic oil with the warm water, soak your body and inhale deeply for I0-15 minutes. This method can also help cure insomnia, headaches, colds and coughs, relieve muscular pains, improve blood circulation and reduce swelling.

For breathing difficulties, pour ten droplets of aromatic oil on a thick wad of tissue or handkerchief, sniff it regularly, and at night, place it near your pillow. Or put ten droplets of aromatic oil in a cup of hot water and put it on a table, then cover your head with a towel and inhale deeply until the scent wears off. This can be repeated three times a day.

To help ease pain from burns, bruises or blisters, soak a piece of cloth in the aromatic mixture, and place it on the affected part of the body. Hold it in place with a bandage, and, for better results, cover the area with another towel. Continue the treatment for about two hours, and, from time to time, add two or three more droplets of aromatic oil to the affected area.

An aromatic oil massage can also help relieve stress or muscular pains, but remember that the application of too much or too pure aromatic oil can cause skin irritation. It’s best to place a little of the oil on the back of your ear to test for allergies before you start using it.

Don’t worry about using several aromatic oils at the same time, because aromatherapy seems to work best when you use a combination of many different oils.
