Talking to yourself is not exactly thinking aloud, though it is in some cases. It is just to say whatever comes to your mind. Sometimes, people ask who I was talking to and I feel embarrassed but now, come to think of it, it shouldn’t be embarrassing for me. I’m not the only one who talks to himself!

How Talking To Myself Helps Me....

I have had the habit of talking to myself since I was very small. I used to often use it in arguments and then, my sister would say,

“Yeah, only mad people talk to themselves…”

That statement is not put right. Mad people are not the only ones who talk to themselves. In fact, talking to yourself can keep you from going mad. I know this sounds silly but it’s true.

I often find myself thinking aloud when I’m happy and when my thoughts are nonsense. I laugh to myself and that keeps me from getting lonely even if I’m all alone. I don’t get scared when I’m alone at home because I keep talking and laughing to myself. It is not exactly thinking aloud. It is keeping your mind away from other thoughts. Like, when I’m alone, I often find myself getting scared of things that don’t even exist. I tend to see things that are not even present there. Those are what my thoughts make me see. I will not get scared if I don’t want to…

And talking to myself helps me do that!…

When I’m sitting alone in the car while my Mum gets out for some work, I have to do something to keep my mind off the chances of people coming and pulling me out of the vehicle or just coming and trying to snatch whatever is there. So, I talk to myself.

Talking to yourself is not exactly thinking aloud, though it is in some cases. It is just to say whatever comes to your mind. I often keep talking when it is dark and I’m going to put the generator on. Sometimes, people ask who I was talking to and I feel embarrassed but now, come to think of it, it shouldn’t be embarrassing for me. I’m not the only one who talks to himself!

Talking to yourself even makes you more confident. If you stammer or stutter whilst talking, this is your chance to get rid of that. Just keep yourself busy when you are vacant by talking- talking whatever you can think of, whatever you feel like saying. You have no reason to keep it in. Soon you might not even be stammering. You will have your own flow.

Overall, I think talking to yourself is a good habit and having it is good for you in its own way. There are many benefits of talking to oneself if you want to find them. I just told you all, briefly how I feel about talking to myself!
