Joining a gym is for doing exercises regularly and building a strong body. However, gym is a public place and it’s possible for you to contact the germs and bacteria when you use the exercising machines, toilets, shower, spa and pool there.
How to avoid germs at the gym
How to exercise well and effectively protect yourself from attacking by the germs and bacteria? The following tips may help you a lot:
Tip No.1 Bring your own towels.
Never use the towel provided by the gym to dry your body or hair after your shower, no matter how clean the gym declare they can be. I used to go to an expensive gym. Each time when I visit the gym, they offer me some big towels and they declare they use the strong antibacterial laundry detergent to clean all the towels each day. They even put a notice to convince their clients that it’s safe to use their towels. I never use their towel to dry my body, but sometimes I used their towel to try my wet hair after shower. One day, I found out a small sarcoma grown on the back of my neck and I went to see a dermatologist. After the doctor took a look at my problem, he asked me a simple question: Did you share your towel or hats with others? Of course, I never share my hat with others, but I did use the towel provided by the gym to dry my hair! Since then, I never dare to use the public towel to dry any part of my body.
Tip No.2 Wear a pair of sandals while you take a shower.
The floor of shower room is always humid and warm. It’s the favorite environment for the germs and bacteria to stay and grow up. If you don’t want to be infected by them, you’d better put on a pair of sandals while you stand in a shower room.
After you put on socks and shoes, you should wash your sandals well or use a clean plastic bag to hold them before you put back them into your bag or locker. Otherwise, you may bring the germs or bacteria into your bag or locker.
Tip No.3 Take a shower after use a spa or pool.
No matter how clean the spa or pool looks, you should not forget to take a shower after using them. Besides, if you have any open wound on the body, you should avoid using a spa or pool. An open wound is always the most ideal attack target for the germs and bacteria.
Tip No.4 Wipe your locker before you put your stuff inside.
If you rent a locker in the gym to store your personal stuff, you’d better clean it before you put your own stuff inside. If you need to store your sports shoes inside, use a plastic bag to hold them before you put them into the locker.

Maggie Winner,
Very useful tips to keep oneself clean.
Most people ignore the Tip No.4 even though they follow the first three, then they are prone to carry germs not knowing how it happened.
