Have you ever taken on a task that is too big? Well your ego is at play here pushing you to new horizons. Trouble is your ego can reach out just a little too far. It therefore needs to be managed, in order to inspire you to greatness.
We all Have an Ego
One of the truths in life is that we all have ego's. If you want to run your life your way, then you will need to develop your ego. The thought of the day for March 4th was about feeding your ego; yet in reality we need to do more, we need to manage how our ego functions.
No matter what he thinks my ginger cat can never turn into a lion. He may be as proud as a lion, bite like a lion, and flash his teeth when he is is mad, but he will never be a lion. That may be his alter ego, but it is not a reality. This has to be clearly understood. Which is why managing your ego is so important.
Sometimes our ego can make us do dangerous things; it can make us go beyond our reality. It can make us believe the impossible. It is not that there is anything wrong in believing that you can make the impossible possible, this should be encouraged to do so, after all where would humanity be without the inventive spirit. In order to climb a mountain we must train our muscles for the task ahead. The same is often true of mental tasks, we need to train our minds; train them to go beyond our existing limitations. To push the boundaries, but do so in reasonable steps.
Mental Exercise
In talking about training your mind I am talking about ensuring that you are ready for the challenge ahead. Focus here is vital.
This is not necessarily about an ability to solve the crossword puzzle, or solve the Sudoku challenge, or any other mental exercises you care to perform. These are general exercises that do expand the capabilities of the mind, which does have a positive function in our lives - they provide much benefit, but in and of themselves they are not and end-game.
What is necessary is that we think through all the challenges that we face rather that simply giving it a go. what approach is most likely to lead to success and which to failure? There are times when just getting on with it works, but there are time we need more, we need the process of thinking through our approach to specific things you wish to achieve.
It is about visualisation. On the whole it is necessary to visualise a result before it is possible to put a plan into action. This is also where ego management come into play; it is about knowing what can be achieved and building a plan around it - build it mentally before you do it physically.
Your Ego to Manage
We mush manage our ego as a part of our success plan. This is a part of a whole set of ideas that we can use to manage out own potential. We must spend time and energy in developing this, and in part this is the idea behind this inspirational thought of the day series, to empower you to develop your own potential, develop fresh ideas and be able to show the world what you are truly capable of.
You should be proud of your potential; of what it is possible to achieve. Yet remember this is at this stage only theory, it is not an actual achievement and it still has a very long way to go to be so. This is a part of the challenge of our ego.
Thoughts for Each Day
This column of thoughts for each day are provided as a way of exploring you own potential. They both provide encouragement and offer a source for personal inspiration. Think of the series as a guide to action, to change. There is no reason to be paralysed by fear of the unknown.

Many thanks Peter loved the read. Could not agree with you more and sometimes we have to make sure we keep our own egos in check.

All too true, Peter. Love the picture of the pussy cat looking in the mirror and seeing him or herself as a lion or lioness. Picture is too small for me to be sure which.
