A look at the power of the root of Glycyrrhiza glabra (Liquorice)

Over 2000 years ago

When the Egyptologist opened up the tomb of the pharaoh's such as Tutankhamen of the 18th dynasty they found, not just a mummified body but many goods, thought to be needed in the afterlife including everyday objects such as bowls, combs, and other trinkets, along with food, jewellery, furniture, and other valuables.

Many mummies were provided with some form of funerary literature to take with them to the afterlife. Most funerary literature consists of lists of spells and instructions for navigating the afterlife and interestingly liquorice roots because it was considered to have strong healing powers.

Tutankhamen and Kevin Spacey

Not only in Egypt but liquorice was known as a "The great detoxifier" as it was thought to drive out poisons from the system, liquorice has been linked with many health benefits over the years it was and still is used as a cough expectorant, helping long term stress, relieving stomach ulcers, Gastritis and the good old indigestion

It's been used as a hang-over cure, and a helper for Constipation (My old mum always used to say" Liquorice gives you a good run for your money" Rumours say dieters such as Madonna, Lindsay Lohan, Brad Pitt, Anne Hatherway, Kevin Spacey and even the well-known chef known for his experimental cooking, Heston Blumenthal.

Don't eat too much

Liquorice is related to beans and peas, the sweet taste comes from glycyrrhizin and is 30 to 50 times as sweet as sugar the sweetness acts different from sugar as it has a slower inception and remains in the mouth for some time after.
PLEASE NOTE liquorice is safe, however "The European Union" suggests people should not consume any more than 50 g of liquorice sweets, and that’s enough for anyone.
As I mentioned earlier liquorice has many health benefits, today it is thought to be effective in the treatment of peptic ulcers and dyspepsia in combination with other herbs, in Japan Glycyrrhizin inhibits liver cell injury caused by many chemicals and is used in the treatment of chronic hepatitis and cirrhosis it also inhibits the growth of herpes.

Beef and Pork is added in most Liquorice

Pontefract in Yorkshire was the first place where liquorice mixed with sugar began to be used as a sweet, Pontefract Cakes were originally made there, although liquorice is good for Vegetarians and Vegans they need to be careful as most manufactures add Beef or Pork Gelatine , there are however a few the don’t and they are hard to find. Here are some.

Apparently Michael had his own candy shop at Neverland and no got to see it but the kids and friends he invited in behind those gates.
I love them and it does detoxify and helps you remain thinner, more flexible, agile, healthy etc.
Tutankhamen died at age 27 and was an able ruler but his father Akenton or Ra is always guarded by Nefratiti despite being changed in her lifetime. No one goes past her and she is one of bewitching beauties of the time and bald by choice too.
Egyptians are known for their healthy food and that is one of the reasons by they always use natural sugars to to keep themselves supple and most of the beauty and health tips come from them.
The funeral array of food is considered to be a peace offering to the Gods to guard the body which is embalmed and encased within pending their return to life after their mission in the Afterlife.
They had the ability to bring the dead back but it is controlled by the Supreme Gods to whom all these natural offerings such as Liqorice is offered.
Aloe is also another ageless herb.
It is said that modern day sugar uses animal additives like bones to polish it to make the cane which is normally brown white. All chemically enhanced.
Check out Carab its similar and less sweet and yes, cleans the stomach too just like the Castor seed.
Beef and Pork fat is also used in cakes in bakers margarine and any form of oil based food. Muslims cannot touch this as its Haram and ID Mubarak to them today....
BTW, Tutankhamen came from the family of Sun Worshipers which originated in totality from his father Ra which means Sun. Amen Ra was a beauty who sank the ship because of the curse she carried with her. No one disturbs any of the Egyptians or the dead from the grave as the eventuality is always death. The Egyptians are famous for this as with their foods.
I used to love picking these up from Paddington Junction , Euston and st pancras while travelling around in the UK. Aniseed is the best that is what is depicted in the above photograph.

Great piece.
When I have an almost incessant cough, I just suck on a small piece of licorice and it soothes the throat and stops the cough immediately.

As if all this were not enough, liquorice has been proven to be an especially powerful aphrodisiac for women who sometimes write too much.

I'll have to remember that one David. I know a few women who are desperately in need of an aphrodisiac :-))
