After three months use I would like to say I’m satisfied with MABIS blood pressure monitor. I would recommend this monitor for family use. Personally I think £20 for a quality brand blood pressure monitor is a great value.

MABIS blood pressure monitor: Useful Kit in Maintaining a Healthy Lifestyle

Briggs Healthcare was founded in 1947. It is one of the largest privately held manufacturers and distributors of medical documentation, charting systems and healthcare products. Its products include home healthcare products, medical records, obstetrics, sourcing and stocking, re-distribution and branded products for patient care. As a German healthcare company, MABIS was acquired by Briggs Healthcare Company in 2004. The one I’m writing about is one of MABIS blood pressure monitors, given the full name, MABIS advanced wrist blood pressure monitor.

Packaging and Features:

My MABIS blood pressure monitor comes in a small box which has a picture of the blood pressure on both front and back sides. You also can read some information about the monitor in English and German from other two sides of the box. There is a User manual in English.

It is a fully automatic digital blood pressure monitor, which is well protected in a sturdy plastic storage case. It has two parts connecting together: one is the display system which has LCD 13 digits System; another one is the pressure cuff, which you can wrap around your wrist.

Usage:

The blood pressure monitor is really easy to get started. However before use you should read the user manual carefully.

First, you should remove the cover from the battery compartment and insert the batteries (1.5V x 2) properly.

Second, wrap the pressure cuff around your wrist. Do not tighten the pressure cuff too much and the cuff edge should be approximately 1cm below your palm.

Third, place your elbow on a table or other object and relax your hand with the palm facing up.

Fourth, turn the power on and all display symbols appear for approximately 1 second. When the measurement is completed the Systolic pressure is displayed on the upper part and Diastolic pressure is displayed on the middle of the display, and Pulse on the lower part of the display.

Last press the Power switch to turn power off. It also has an automatic power off function, which turns power off after approximately 1 minute.

Price and Availability:

In the UK you can buy MABIS blood pressure monitor in a few websites including EBay. You will find the prices vary. As a guide, my blood pressure monitor was bought in a store in Dubai for about £20.

My personal experience:

I didn’t buy this monitor, which was a gift to me from one of my friends for Chinese New Year in 2012. My first impression was very good. It looked very cute. I was pleased with the so called “easy use”. However using is believing. After a few times try I found my blood pressure measurements were not normal. So one day I visited my doctor and found the measurements of my monitors were not right on with the doctor's result. I thought my monitor was not accurate enough to count on. However after reading the manual very carefully, I found I made two mistakes: the display should be placed on the palm side of the wrist; correct measurement position should be your heart is located slightly below your armpit. Now I can say my MABIS blood pressure monitor does work well.

The monitor is simple to use. However you must read the manual thoroughly in order to get the correct readings. By the way another useful thing is it has a memory where you can store results.

After three months use I would like to say I’m satisfied with MABIS blood pressure monitor. I would recommend this monitor for family use. Personally I think £20 for a quality brand blood pressure monitor is a great value.
