6. The dried seeds when pounded and mixed with vinegar can be used as a skin irritant to lower fever.
7. The milky juice which is tapped from the green, mature fruit while still in the tree, contains an enzyme known as "papain". People use this in the preparation of different remedies for indigestion.
8. A decoction formed by boiling the outer part of the roots of the papaya tree in the cure of dyspepsia.
Economics and Nutritive Value of Papaya
1. The green papaya is commonly used as vegetable, boiled with chicken tinola, sauteed with pork or shrimps or combined with chicken guinataan.
2. The raw, green papaya when grated and allowed to pickle, becomes an appetizer called "achara"
3. The unripe papaya when boiled, mashed and mixed with calamansi juice, salt and pepper, and sugar, serves as a savory sauce.
4. The ripe papaya fruit is also used as a main ingredient in fruit salad.
5. The ripe papaya fruit is an excellent source of vitamin C and and a good source of vitamin A, B. Fair amount of iron and calcium are also present. An average slice from the ripe papaya supplies the required vitamin A and C needed daily.
6. Unripe papaya fruit has a plenty of vitamin B.
7. Papaya seeds can be used to garnish certain food preparations. Some people like to use the fresh ones, chopped coursely and combined with dressings or marinades to add sparkle and flavor to salads and other foods.
8. The Juice of papaya leaf known as "papaain" is used to meat tenderizer.
