Herbal Remedy for Chest Colds and Bronchitis
Having a chest cold or bronchitis can make it difficult to sleep. It can make you miss work. It can stop you from being productive and can make you feel downright awful. There is a multitude of medications available over the counter and by a Doctor’s prescription. Some of these medications work wonders, but many simply mask the symptoms and do not actually help fight the illness. The medications that do help fight the illness are often filled with chemicals and other stuff that simply is not good for us.
Many people prefer to avoid pharmaceuticals if possible and like to try an herbal remedy first. One of the great things about herbal remedies is that they help to strengthen the body’s natural immune system to fight the illness. The next time you have a chest cold or mild case of bronchitis, here is an excellent herbal remedy to try. It is extremely easy to make and inexpensive and does a great job at clearing the lungs and helping the body naturally fight the sickness.
Combine 1 ounce of tomato juice, 1/8 tsp of cayenne pepper, ¼ tsp black pepper and ¼ tsp. of garlic powder.
It is easiest to make it in a shooter glass and simply drink in one shot. It definitely burns the chest and will have you jumping up and down for a few minutes. It should be taken for three days straight.
For those who are suffering from a stubborn or bad cold or bronchitis, eating a clove of fresh raw garlic on the first day of taking the remedy will give it the extra strength to send the cold packing.
Admittedly, this is not an easy remedy to take. Most people find it gets hotter and burns the chest more each day. By the third day, many people are not brave enough to get the last shooter down. Rest assured it only burns for a few minutes and is well worth it.
Herbal remedies can work great but are no substitute for a Doctor if your condition worsens or becomes severe. If the chest cold or bronchitis lasts more than two weeks, you have a fever over 102° F, cough up blood or have shortness of breath, a Doctor should be seen immediately.
