TEA TREE melaleuca alternifolia
Helps treat wounds, fungal infections
Apply tea tree ointment to small cut or wound. For athlete's foot, mix 2 teaspoons oil and 8 teaspoons distilled water in a spray bottle. Spray on foot twice daily. For fungus, apply oil directly on toenail. (May cause allergic reaction, test on inner arm. Irritation will show in a day or two.)
PEPPERMINT mentha x piperita
IBS symptoms, headaches
For gas and other digestive issues, take a 0.2 milliliter capsule two or three times daily. (Peppermint may cause heartburn. Look for coated tablets or capsules.) To ease head pain, mix 6 drops of oil in 1 teaspoon carrier oil, like grapeseed or almond. Massage into the back of the neck, the forehead and temples.
LAVENDER lavandula angustifolia
Insomnia, anxiety
Mix 1 teaspoon oil in 5 teaspoons distilled water and mist on your pillow. Or drip 10 to 20 oil drops into bath water and soak for 20 mins.
EUCALYPTUS eucalyptus globulus, eucalyptus radiata
Congestion
For nasal, sinus, and congestion in the chest, try a steam tent; mix 4 cups of almost boiling water with 3-4 drops of oil. Wait one minute; cover head with large towel, lean about one foot over bowl and breathe deeply for 3 to 4 minutes.
