While you can not always avoid the flu, here are some common sense tips to increase your chances.

Ways to stay safe from the Flu
Well it is that time of the year again, flu season. Last year we had the dangers of H1N1 in addition to the normal culprits. It is important this year that you try to stay healthy and avoid the misery of the flu. Here are some ways to increase your changes.
Increase the strength of your immune system
Like they say, the best defense is a good offense. You’ll want to increase the strength of your immune system to fight off invaders with a combination of antioxidants, Vitamins A, C and B-complex as well as various minerals. Recent studies show that vitamin E may also be helpful so you can better your immune system by eating foods such as nuts and leafy green that are high in vitamin E.
Stay Calm and get some Rest
Stress actually lowers your immune response so it is important to keep stress to a minimum during the winter. If your job is stressful see if you can counteract it with going to the movies or partaking in a hobby in your off hours. In addition it is important that you get your recommended 7 to 9 hours of sleep a night which will give your body the time it needs to do daily repairs.
Be Mindful
The most important thing to do during the flu season is to always be mindful of your surroundings. This means watching what you touch with your hands as well as keeping your hands away from your face after you turn that door knob. Be sure to pay back the favor and wash your own hands to keep transfer to a minimum. Also be mindful when you are in closed transportation such as buses or airplanes. By no means should you avoid these transportation mediums for fear of getting sick, just by cautious when you are in cramped spaces with other people.
