Vision Boards – More than just cutting out pictures
For many of us who've made our own vision boards already, we know it's more than just cutting out images and sayings. It's sitting first and really thinking about what it is you truly desire in life. What do you want spiritually, financially, mentally, physically, monetarily, career wise? What do you want for your present and future?
If it is your first time creating a vision board you may want to sit down and ask yourself some questions. Reason being, I feel, is to clear your mind of what you think you can not or do not have and focus on what you can have and want. It is room for thought...getting the vision per say. Everyone chooses to do this in a different way and when I conduct my workshops I ask everyone to first picture that there is love and support all around them. I then ask them to really think about what they want out of life and if they are able, to sum it up in just a few words, to write them down as soon as they come to mind, no filters, no hesitating, just write them down.
Be grateful for what your already have
I feel you must be grateful for what you already have in order to acquire more. This goes for material things and spiritual things. I find I cannot lose weight if I don't appreciate my body as it is. I can not get a better job if I don't find something good about where I am. I can not eat healthier if I'm focusing on eating unhealthy. I believe we have to be more positive about things in our life to get more positive into our lives.
Start by appreciating all that you have and all you have become and then visualize what you want in the present and future. Don't allow negative thoughts to stay with you. Instead of saying “I'm so fat, I have to lose weight”, change that to “I look forward to being my ideal weight” or “I am losing weight gracefully and steadily”. “Losing weight comes easy for me”.State it this way, even if you feel as if you are lying to yourself at the time, just do it. Pay attention to all you already achieved and know you can achieve more. If you have a support group, share your accomplishments thus far and what you wish to bring into your life in the future.
.
You should now have a poster board, magazines, glue sticks and scissors in front of you. It's as easy as that.
Now, get out your magazines and start cutting. Cut out anything that is appealing to you. If it catches your eye, it's yours. You can always discard it later but you don't want to have to go back to a magazine and search for it again. This should be a smooth, flowing, fun, tranquil experience. Some of you will get excited and hyped others will feel cool, calm and collected: It all depends on your personality type and where you are in your life at the moment. Though, I must say, it's different for me every time.
Start arranging your pictures on your board. Some may put them in synchronicity and others may just want a collage. I'm a collage girl myself, but I love the symmetry of the boards that are also straight, neat and clean. Any and every way it is created is the right way because it's all about you and what you like and appeals to your minds eye.
Include a picture of yourself
Many say you should include a picture of yourself on the board because this makes it personal. It makes a lot of sense since it's all about you and your life. I choose to put pictures of me when I was at my best or laughing or smiling however I do not always put pictures of myself on my board. It's personal preference.
You can cut out words or write them yourself. It's all about whatever makes you happy. Once your vision board is together, glued and ready to be hung, make sure you put it somewhere you will see it every day, more than once a day if possible. If you are unable to keep it out, be sure you take it out daily and look at it and feel as if it's already happened. Act as if you are already experiencing the images you see every day. This is truly how to create the life of your dreams. I know, it works for me over and over again.
Good luck and send pictures of your creations
Good luck with it. Please send me pictures of your boards or post any questions. I'd be happy to help and answer.
Send in your pictures and stories for an upcoming article and/or book
I may even be using pictures and stories for an upcoming book or article so feel free to send in your story and your pictures. If you already have a vision board send in how it is changing or has changed your life along with pictures.
