no food connoisseur here
All my life I had lived a simple life, my parents were simple folks who prepared no fancy foods in the house. I eat whatever is available and cooking was and is never one of the things I do well.
substitute food judge, me?
One day I just chanced to drop by a reputable culinary school where a friend is working, and coincidentally got an invitation to taste the food or be a judge to a group of graduating culinary students who were busy preparing gourmet food for their finals. Was I in luck, or what? Taste or eat gourmet foods and judge them? Isn't that amazing? I accepted the invitation of course for who could say no to eating probably the tastiest dishes in town? These student chefs were to be graded on the basis of how they prepared the food from start to presentation and the judges had guidelines or criteria to follow in grading them.
Starter 1, Starter 2
Each student prepared two starters each---that means two kinds of soup which had to be graded according to taste, temperature, presentation, etc. There is also a rating for the personality of the student chef who each had to explain or answer questions that the judges asked.
the main course
After the two very delicious starters, the main courses came, each student has prepared his/her own main course. This part really almost burst my tummy because instead of just tasting the dishes, all four judges were actually eating the main courses down to the last crumb. How can you not eat every single course when they were so tasty our plates were practically empty after this.
The sweet part came last but it seemed like my taste buds couldn't get enough. I dug into the desserts like there was no tomorrow.Well, in my own opinion, the culinary students deserved to get the highest points for preparing such delectable foods.
