This post talks about air, its quality, need of air and air pollution.

Air is Soul

Can we say air is our soul?

I don’t think anyone can live without breathing. Breathing other than air is not known to this humanity. Why we need air to breath, why not nitrogen or carbon-di- oxide or carbon monoxide? Our body needs oxygen to burn the carbohydrates for energy and oxygen is a supporter of combustion. Therefore, we breathe the air.
Knowing this secret, poisonous gases were used during war time, to kill the enemies. Under developed countries report death of people caused by hydrogen sulfide while cleaning underground sewage pipes, unused wells and other underground structures closed for long time.

What will happen?
What will happen if air is not there to breathe? Is it possible to live without air? Certainly death will occur. This is why mountaineering and trekking persons carry oxygen cylinders at their back. Divers also need oxygen cylinders to breathe. It is a common sight in any hospital in the Emergency Ward, oxygen cylinders as life supporting system. We do not know to live without air.

Do we have alternative?
Do we have alternative source for air? So far there is no but about future no idea. Is it not important to see fresh and good air available for life? It is important but except organizations such as Pollution control, no ordinary man cares about it. Air is polluted everyday by industries, automobiles and forest fires. Unless no one check this pollution, one day everyone will have to suffer by breathing diseases and die gradually. Therefore, it is the need to control air pollution and steps must be taken to monitor it in developing third world countries.

Air quality deteriorating?
Air quality is deteriorating, the statistics of Pollution control Board reports, especially in metro cities of India, this makes tourists India as last preference for a vacation. Suspended particulates level is drastically increasing which affects eyes and lungs. Though already some measures are taken to reduce the air pollution by the governments and WHO, it is the duty of every human to keep the quality of air clean because air is our soul. Without clean air, life will be at risk.
