It is a fact that the liver is the largest organ in the body. About 1500 ml. of blood flows through the liver every minute. It performs more than 400 functions in three major categories: storage, protection and metabolism. But, what if the liver fails because of too much alcohol? Can you still be a "happy-go-lucky" drinker? Find out more.

The Liver is Working

Our liver has the capacity of storing several minerals like copper, iron and magnesium. It is also capable of storing Vitamins B2 (riboflavin), B12 (cobalamin), and B6 (pyridoxine), folic acid and fat-soluble Vitamins like A, D, E and K. So much overwhelming functions of the liver should each human being be aware of its dangers of abuse.
The liver protects the body from harmful bacteria and anemic blood cells. It also detoxifies potentially harmful compounds like drugs, alcohol and chemicals.

Come Alcohol

The most common substance abusing our body is drinking alcoholic beverages. With a low health benefit, every person could never get enough alcohol in their veins. From slight tremors up to palpitations and worse, death, alcoholism could be an ill adversary. It is easy to defend oneself that one is not alcoholic but an increasing number of dosages to alcohol will definitely, increase one's tolerance. It is easy to abuse alcohol because it is readily and legally sold in the market and the rate of alcohol drinkers are increasing over a year for the years.
But effects could it do in our body?
Contrary to public knowledge that alcohol is a stimulant, it is a central nervous system depressant. The initial effect of alcohol in our body is relaxation. It promotes loosening of the muscles with calming behavior. However, alcohol also produces loss of inhibitions. Some people when they have too much alcohol they display agitation. Because of loss inhibitions they present aggressive and inappropriate behavior.
Alcohol intoxication and excessive intake of alcohol in a short period of time can result in vomiting and unconsciousness. Others could experience difficulty in breathing or respiratory depression.
Severe manifestations could be hand tremors or shaking, inability to fall asleep during the night or insomnia which is a major disturbance of your circadian rhythm, seizures and hallucinations. Of course, too much intake could extremely cause liver cirrhosis.

Why take Alcohol?

From hanging out with friends until a relationship break-up, the very best companion especially for men is a bottle or even cases of alcohol. From the least proof to the demonic label hard liquor, it is still the same specie - alcohol!

Most men they enjoy dinner with red wine. They drink for enhanced circulation of the blood. Perhaps, it is the widely used reason for most people and its the very benefit of alcohol if taken moderately. But, an everyday consumption of alcohol could be the reason of alcoholism because in order to produce the same effect, intake will be increased everyday.

Others drink for success after a job well done and merry making and even for a farewell party but too much of it could bring chaos in a relationship. Instead of celebrating success they might celebrate failure to comprehend each other. Instead of merry making, they might celebrate sorrows and griefs. Alcohol consumption and intoxication could ruin one's perception and thinking, it could start up a fight because of misunderstanding and distorted thinking.

And with other reasons left, alcohol is a companion but never a friend. It could ruin your health and distract your ability to think straight. It may for the meantime, increase your confidence but it could somewhat ruin your health.

Your Health and You

No matter what the advantages are alcohol could bring you, think about your liver. Remember, you only have one body and you should take care of it. Alcohol could be your companion when no one is around and during your bouts of misery and depression but it is never a trusted friend. Sometimes, you should think of diversion other than drinking too much! Don't be selfish! Think about your LIVER!
