Try These Two Home Tests to find out if you’re overweight…
1. Calculate your Body Mass Index (BMI)
1. Calculate your Body Mass Index (BMI)Your BMI is calculated by dividing your weight in kilograms by the square of your height, in meters. So if you weight 90 kg and 1.80 meters tall, your BMI would be: 90/ = 27.8
If your BMI is 25 or above, you fall into the pre-obese or overweight category. If your BMI is 30 or above, you are clinically obese.
2. Measure your waist
2. Measure your waistWrap a tailor’s measuring tape around the narrowest part of your torso, just above the belly button, making sure that the tape lies flat against your skin and is just as high at the back as it is in the front.
If your waist is greater than 94 cm but less than 102 cm, you are at a slightly elevated risk of obesity-related disease. If your waist measures 102 cm or more, your chances of obesity-related diseases sky rockets regardless of what your BMI is.
