It's important to include essential fatty acids in your diet if you want to achieve and maintain beautiful, youthful skin and a healthy body. So where do you get this important nutrient and what are its benefits?

Essential Fatty Acids

GLA is an omega 6 essential fatty acid. It is rapidly converted by the body and used as a potent anti-inflammatory agent. People with large amounts of sugar and red meat in their diet may become deficient in GLA. There is very little GLA found in the average diet so it's important to include a source either from appropriate foods, such as seeds, nuts and oils or a supplement like borage oil, evening primrose oil or black current oil.

1. Lowers blood pressure
2. Lowers cholesterol
3. Prevents hardening of the arteries
4. May help PMS
5. Aids healing in dry skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis
6. Helps production of prostaglandin
7. Reduces inflammation in joints
8. Inhibits blood clotting
9. Reduces LDL cholesterol
10. May help reduce inflamed skin problems such as acne

Tip: For a facial massage to help improve the appearance of dry skin, wrinkles or mild scaring: Open two capsules of evening primrose into clean hands and using gentle circular motion, massage the oil into the face. This technique is best done before bed, allowing the oil to work over night.
