Borderline Personality : Through this article we take you into the unique journey of a person suffering from BPD and their road to recovery.

Black and White: my world of borderline

The theologian Paul Tillich wrote that "loneliness can be conquered only by those who can bear solitude." But for someone suffering from borderline, solitude is too hard to bear. The fear of being 'alone' is so prominent, that they would always rush into relationships, but due to that very fear, as soon as they get closer to someone emotionally, they close themselves into the shells and push people away and never find a stable relationship. For whole of their lives they keep rotating in vicious circle of loneliness, solitude and love.

Borderline personality disorder is a serious mental illness marked by unstable moods, behaviour, and relationships. Most people who have borderline personality disorder suffer from:
• Problems with regulating emotions and thoughts
• Impulsive and reckless behaviour
• Unstable relationships with other people.
As the name itself suggests, a person suffering form this illness, lives in the borderline of emotions. The mood can easily shift from happy to depressed in a few seconds, with or without any trigger. You feel the emotions more intensely than any other normal person would feel. So instead of anger, you feel rage, instead of being sad over a thing you get into severe depression. And often these conflicting emotions leads to a rather sad ending "suicide". This illness is more common in young girls with a troubled family background or a history of emotional, physical or sexual abuse. It is because of their past, that they are unable to trust people but still keep searching for the love they never had growing up.
Other people normally describe them as being manipulative, attention seeking, suicidal, self harming and demanding. But usually they are highly intelligent, sensitive and funny people who are in a lot of pain. Being borderline feels like having third degree burns which can never be healed. They are someone who don't know how to get their needs fulfilled effectively and hence sometimes use manipulation.
Treatment of BPD may take several months to years, depending on the situation of their mental illness. But the best way that BPD can be treated is "love". People with borderline personality are like the lost souls looking for nirvana. They crave for love and care. They have an immense fear of abandonment, and if they have someone by their side to support them they come out of their shell. With proper support, structure and medical help, they will slowly recover and shine out as a beautiful personality. And yes I do believe that love conquers all.

"At the end of cliff she stands, with that broken smile..
stories of deceit, hate and love she had left behind...
tears roll down, as she decides to end away this precious life..
suddenly she feels the warmth of little hands, asking her to walk one more mile..

and as all the fear goes away, she takes a step ahead....
grows those beautiful wings and flies to the heights of unattainable skies"

Well detailed Aarti. I have met people acting strange but most do so due to some mental disorders or past hurts that revisit them. Even normal people get disoriented at times and need family support to stay the course - siva
