Breaking the chains of reality…Humility

A successful life cannot be measured by comparison, but by the will to follow our own design.

Unity

A solid step forward towards unity with our fellow human beings, is the understanding of humility, and what it has to teach. It is not enough to perceive, that there are those who lack, to feel the vague shame of empathy and not act. We are not required to give all that we have away, and crawl upon our knees in abject platitude. Our blood soaking the road, in sacrifice to our need to have ownership. Only to view our lives, by experience, to let the emphasis slip from acquisition and comparisons. To see ourselves and our fellow humans, as we truly are, students in the academy of life. We are here to seek experience, however that manifests, and should not put a value proposition on our fellow seeker’s curriculum.

Insanity

Is purpose such a shallow thing, that it cannot include acceptance? Is it found in the hoarding of power? Can it be seen through the jaundiced eye, of second hand experience? This is how things are, the way they have always been, why waste a life, in the mistaken ambition to change it? We live backwards, our first breath spent in the glory of existence, only to have our light dimmed by a gradual acclimation into the solidity of what is. There is no way to change it, at best we can ride on the backs of others. To acquire all that we can, before the flesh rots from our bones, in the finality of the much feared, and long awaited exit. At worst, spent in the futile endeavor of chasing it, still left to wonder in the end, “is that it?”

Nouveau-reality

How can this not be viewed as insanity? Moral obligations of faith left aside, there must be something of more importance to chase. If all that we do is influenced by and reflected towards others, why not give it to them in it’s entirety, wear the shackles of bondage proudly, and shuffle happily along, oblivious to the prospect of freedom? In a way this is exactly what we do, when we humble ourselves, only what is reflected on others is acceptance. No one being, better or worse than ourselves. Therefore what we give, reflected back on us, is unstained by the expectation of return. It is a freedom that cannot be purchased, hoarded or extracted from others. The freedom to let go of want, to turn away from an unreal reality, to allow ourselves to change.

Clarity

If all that there is, can be encompassed in tactile existence, why then do we have the mind to seek further? Why not be happy with what we have, without taking away from others? To have many times more, than we could ever possibly need, will still not keep the shadow of death from our door. Even if there is nothing else, no heaven or hell, or a second time around, there must be something of worth along the way. To experience humility in it’s purest form, takes nothing away from self, just the opposite. By freeing ourselves from the need of approval from others, or the need to approve of others, we make room to approve of our self. No longer will others be viewed through the obscured lens of self contempt, but with the loving clarity, of a fellow seeker.

You see the world through unique and sharply clear eyes, my friend. A most excellent truth and I love that you have included one of my favourite songs in the video clip.
Please keep your honesty coming xxx

Aden, another winner my friend. I just love this line "By freeing ourselves from the need of approval from others, or the need to approve of others, we make room to approve of our self.". Well said! Thank you for sharing.:)

Outstanding. The very first line summed up a theme I often explore in my own writing. It is imperative humanity moves in the direction of unity. From that one sentence alone I became your follower here. ;-)
