Coffee as a mild and slow poison

Coke may be the joy of living, but I rather choose a cup of well made coffee.

Coffee as a mild and slow poison

It was an old-fashioned cafe in the Old Quarters of Barcelona. As one stepped inside, one felt the steam and sound of the coffee machine that worked all day till closing time. It was a spacious entrance with tables and chairs and more seating on an upper floor with more marble topped tables and chairs of good wood.
The waiters were well trained to serve among the tables or over the equally marble counter, discreet or chatty if the occasion required it. They walked fast across the main lounge and they always had a courteous smile on their faces.
On its walls, there were many quotes enhancing the value of coffee and, of course, inviting to have a cup, be it black, with milk or with a drop of brandy or anisette, but I do remember one well despite the time that has passed by.
"They say that coffee is a poison, but I think it has to be a very mild and slow one, because I´ve been having it for many years and I still have to feel some of its signs of poison".
I don´t remember who was the author of such a quote, but I haven´t forgotten it ever since.
WHAT COFFEE CAN DO FOR US
Letting aside whether coffee is nutritious or healthy, this black beverage is good for us in many ways.
- It helps us to be awake and alert. The world wouldn´t be the same without our coffee for breakfast or that mid morning cuppa that helps us to destress and to keep upbeat at the same time.
- It helps us to socialize and to interact with other people, because there seems to be a time to talk it over a cup of coffee.
- Coffee is always a good brooch to lunch, especially if we´ve to go back to the workplace.
- Coffee can be prepared in a million ways to make that special drink.
Coke may be the joy of living, but I rather choose a cup of coffee in its many variations.
It´s what gets me up in the morning: feeling the smell of freshly brewed coffee steaming in the kitchen. As I sip out of my mug, I´ll most probably get a couple of good ideas to write about and problems seem to be less worrisome.
Poisonous? I haven´t felt a slightest sign of it. Not yet.

I do not agree that coffee is a poison, if so so many would not be here right now, I enjoy the aroma and a good cup of sweet coffee. Sublime taste.

Of course, it isn´t, WOGIAM! That man was being ironic and all those quotes were used to promote coffee drinking!

Well, as a good friend used to say to her sporty husband, "why do you want to die being so healthy!"
