The reason for this has become starkly obvious - most degenerative disease is a product of our modern refined and chemically dependent food supply. It's the number one reason for our current health care implosion.

Two time Nobel laureate, Dr. Otto Warburg of Germany, won a Nobel Prize in 1932 for his discovery of oxygen deficiency in the CANCER growth process. Human blood stays in a very narrow pH range right around 7.3 to 7.4. Being below or above this range causes illness and disease. When our pH is off, micro-organisms in the blood thrive, enzymes can become destructive and oxygen delivery to cells is impaired. Modern degenerative diseases thrive under an acid pH/oxygen deficient environment, because our body pH balance is the crucial pivot to good health. The magnitude of this truth is of incredible importance to someone who is consistently ill and desiring to feel better.

Our body works best when powered by foods which have a majority of alkaline elements (about 65-75%), and a minority (about 25-35%) of acidic elements. Alkaline food elements are more important because they supply most of our dietary enzymes, fibre, nutrients and co-factors. Many functions in the body occur only at a certain level of alkalinity.

An abundance of fruits and vegetables, as well as whole grain products, whole milk and cheeses, butter, naturally raised meats and unrefined oils are essential to the well being of most people.

The usual supermarket fare of sugary cereals, margarines, rancid oils, white flour, sugar and canned foods makes it impossible to receive proper nourishment and guarantees future health problems. These foods are designed to taste good, but invariably poison our body. Factor in pasteurization, irradiation and genetic manipulation, and you have a huge modern food problem compounding all modern degenerative disease statistics.

To avoid running over the cliff with the crowd, eat food which still contain most of its nutrient content, which means it is largely left untouched by the modern refining process. You'll find it will benefit you in a physical, mental and spiritual capacity.

Thanks for this hub. Another major problem people have about diet is the avoidance of diabetes. In Eastern Europe and Africa, people stop taking refined sugar to avoid diabetes but still get it in their mid 40s why? They do not take refined sugar, yet majority of the bulk of their food is carbohydrates which are broken into simple sugars which they avoid. Once people get the awareness that based on WHO, if one can walk 10km per week, the cause of diabetes can be avoided. This is so far the best prophylaxis against diabetes. We can still eat our normal good food with lots of natural contents and alkaline contents (from this article) as well as stay healthy, hence using one stone to kill two birds, making the equillibrium balanced. This is a great hub, I must say.
