Differences in Breathing with the Right and Left Nostril

Human being is created with two nostrils, right one and left one. Man often inhale and exhale air simultaneously. But, do you know that right and left nostril have different functions?

Right and left nostrils indeed have different functions. When we breath through one of it, it has different healing benefit for us.

Each nostril while operating independently affects the body chemical in different ways. When both nostrils do the same job, the body chemical also changes.

The right nostril is often compared with the sun that is hot. The function of right nostril is secreting the hot air from the body, thereby increasing the secretion of acid.

Left nostril is compared with the moon, secrete cold air. The air blowing from the left nostril could increase the secretion of alkali.

Both right and left nostril are associated with the opposite side of the brain hemispheres and olfactory lobes. The nose is in direct contact with the hypothalamus through the lane with the olfactory lobes in the brain. The hypothalamus is part of the system which connect with emotions and motivations.

Nostril through the process of respiration associated with neuromotor response and the autonomic nervous system. Neuromotor response affects the brain hemispheres and also the chemical activity of the brain, which in turn affects all body functions.

Breathing through the left nostril affects cortical brain activity on the right side and vice versa. Right hemisphere, affected by the dominance of the left nostril, is associated with emotional, visual, relaxation and feminine activity.

While the left hemisphere, which is stimulated by the dominance of the right nostril, is associated with verbal activity, which is more energetic and rational. The function of each nostril can be felt at the moment of the healing process.

Examples of each nostril functions include:

* Breathing through right nostril (dominantly):
1. Relieve headaches
2. Help to cure chronic indigestion
3. Relieve constipation

* Breathing through left nostril (dominantly)
1. To relieve stress
2. Overcoming sleep problems (insomnia). The trick, lie to the right and breath through left nostril (close the right nostril) for 25 to 30 minutes.
