Do not avoid egg yolks because it has a myriad of benefits.

Egg Yolk and Its Benefit

Egg is a food that is full of nutritional value. However, eggs are also often linked to various health problems. This is because eggs contain cholesterol, especially on the part of the egg yolk. However, there are many other benefits derived from egg yolk.

Therefore we have to control how many eggs we may eat (see my article: How Many Eggs We may Consume Every Week)

Here are some benefits of egg yolks you cannot find in the egg whites:

1. Egg Yolks Contain More Vitamins.
Egg yolks contain more vitamins compared with the egg white. Each egg yolk contains seven vitamins, such as vitamin B6, B-12, A, D, E, K, and folate. Vitamin A, D, E and K are only found in egg yolks only, not in the egg whites.

2. Egg Yolks Contain More minerals.


Such as vitamins, minerals are crucial micronutrients that are needed by the body. Minerals are essential nutrients that are used to manage functions such as balancing the body's electrolytes. Egg yolk and egg white has 13 types of minerals, including of calcium, magnesium, iron, potassium, sodium, and selenium. Although both parts are equally eggs contain minerals, but the yolk contains a lot more for each mineral. For example, 90 percent of the calcium contained in an egg is in the yolk; 93 percent iron content in eggs is in the yolk, and only 7 percent is in the whites.

Eggs are rich in sulfur, an essential nutrient that helps the absorption of vitamin B to liver function. In addition, sulfur is also useful in the production of collagen and keratin which makes hair shiny, your nails stay strong, and radiant skin.

3. Egg Yolks are Rich in Choline (Read: The Most Essential Things You Must Know About Choline)

Egg yolks with vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients in it, it also helps to improve heart and cardiovascular health.

Not only the consumption of moderate amounts of eggs that showed benefits for the heart, but also nutrients in egg yolks, i.e. choline, helping to regulate the function of cardiovascular.


4. Egg Yolks are Good for Eye health

Carotenoids in egg yolk, particularly carotenoids lutein and zeaxanthin, are very beneficial to eye health. According to the researchers, this carotenoid, which is the pigment that gives color to the yellow color of egg yolks, can lower the risk of age-related degeneration and cataracts. This substance acts as an antioxidant for the eyes, against radical free which can destroy parts of the retina that can affect the ability of eyes to focus.


But nevertheless, do not eat too many egg yolks. In the journal Atherosclerosis, mentioned that the regular consumption of egg yolks together almost as bad as smoking.
