Sometimes things that are done for our good, is not always the best route to take

The Science behind the dunk

I have always loved McVitie's digestive biscuits, in fact I think I have been eating them for as long as I can remember,

As a boy I used to call them McVitie's suggestive's and I would love to dunk them,
(for those not familiar with the word the dictionary definition is "To dip into liquid;") and digestive biscuits were perfect for doing that, as some biscuits would go so soft they would fall into your cup and some were so hard that the dunking process was a waste of time.

A Change too far

Not long ago McVitie's changed the makeup of their digestive's and received so many complaints that the new recipe did not taste so nice and horror after horror they did not Dunk so well., the good news is that McVitie's have now reinstated the original recipe yippee.

Cutting out Fat is not always a good thing

Many of the things we are use to have been changed most of the the to make them more healthy by cutting down on the amount of sugar and fat, that is all very well and good but when the new recipe makes the item taste awful I think the manufactures should take note.

Are you a Dunker or do you think it is just not the thing to do

So there you have it to Dunk or not to Dunk, that is the question

Good morning, Johnny; I dunk. Digestive bisquits, although I have had them when abroad, are not my prefered. However, you make an excellent point about what you can and cannot dunk. I never got dunking donuts; mine always ended up at the bottom of my cup. Thanks for a fun read. ~Marilyn

Not a dunker, the soggy bits of cookie at the bottom of my glass of milk would disgust me.

Well I go for the McVites Oats biscuits as they are high fibre and soluble, the others are processed wheat and cause colo-rectal cancer and other health maladies.
I live on greens and fruits and other natural stuff as I have always been a naturalist in my eating habits but a processed food eater. You will always find nuts and grains, berries as my diet with one meal a day.
I know the typical UK diet style, I love it too but as a treat and its just part of my upbringing to eat natural foods from around me.

Takes me back a few years. I rarely eat biscuits these days. I may ask my wife to buy me some biscuits and try dunking again. Just for old times sake.

New brooms sweep clean, but old brooms know the corners- that accurately describes the recipe change. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, especially one that is so popular. I'm not fond of food such as diet soda or "Lite". They taste awful to me, so I just stick to the original and eat in moderation. I hope you have a great year, Johnny.

I have never liked dunking unless it's a cookie. Anything other than that I don't dunk because the soggy crumbs don't appeal to me.

I can fondly remember my Grandfather dunking his biscotti in his morning coffee when I was little and I think it was because of him that I dunk just about anything edible. Well done!

One of my weaknesses is dunking my digestives too Johnny, but agree with Mark, when a biscuit falls into your tea, it really just leaves a soggy mess..not really that appetising at all.. Loved this article, and music too..\0/x

For a moment, I thought you were talking about basketball dunks which are phenomenal to watch. Nice article but sigh all the good things are either fat or sugary or salty; I need a little of all.

I really enjoyed this cute little-tid-bit; you made me want to head out and get some cookies... so that is where I am heading off to--need my sugar injection!
