Panic Attacks or Panic Disorders


Panic attacks are define as episodes of intense sudden fear or apprehension, that are of a sudden onset and are of relatively short duration. These attacks begin abruptly, normally reaching a peak wihin 10 minutes and are usually over within 30 minutes. Whereas some attacks are as short as 15 seconds, or cyclic, lasting for an extended period.



The signs of panic attacks:


* Individuals with panic attacks complain of feeling dizzy and sick in their stomach.
* Individuals also mention problems with breathing and their heart pounding.
* Individuals complain of feeling like their dying or going crazy with hot or cold flashes.


The symptoms of panic attacks:


The symptoms of panic attacks are mainly physical, sufferers of panic disorders may experience frequent, unexpected panic attacks or they may worry a lot about experiencing another panic attack. Extreme stressful situations such as the death of a love one, loss of a job or the divorce can trigger a panic attack.


Treatment for panic attacks and panic disorders:

* Individuals suffering with panic attacks should learn how to control their breathing.
* Such individuals should also practice relaxation techniques, this helps to bring their life into balance.
* Individuals should avoid smoking and caffeine while under treatment for panic disorders.
* Cognitive behavioral therapy is often use to treat individuals experiencing panic disorders or attacks. This therapy focuses on the thinking patterns and behaviors that are sustaining or triggering the panic attacks.
