Salt Water and Hair

t is a settled issue that Saltwater affects hair. Salt is produced in pools when chlorine is added to the water to keep it safe and free from the harmful germs. Chlorine reacts and sodium and chloride or salt is the end product of this process. Then there is sea water which is a not only mixture of salts but salt in itself. It has its own effects on skin and hair. This salt is sometimes considered harmful for skin and hair and sometimes it is just ignored. Often it makes people worried when they dive into the salty waters of pools and sea. Some people do not even bother to know effects of salt water on their hair, although they experience it often. Thin hair, thick hair, curly, oily and dry hairs are a few types of it. Each type is affected differently from the salt water. Thin hair welcomes the salt water and curly and thick air seeks protection from it. Thin hair gets texture from the saltwater but the thick and curly hair are spoiled and damaged by the salt water. There are some bad effects of salt water on the hair. Dryness and weathering of hair are two major harms done by saltwater to hair. You can think of Salt water as mixed blessing. If you repeatedly go into salt water and do not rinse or clean your hair, dryness would be produced in the hair. The hair may lose elasticity, strength and shine. The only solution to this problem lies in taking care of the dryness. Conditioner and other oily things should be applied to the hair after taking bath in the pool or sea. Hair oils should be applied on the hair. The most recommended oil for this purpose is coconut oil. The other side of the coin is that the salt water helps hair in styling and doing. Salt water is not harmful for all kinds of hair. Thin hair that needs volume is styled with the saltwater easily. Salt gives texture to such hair. Thin Hair appears thicker than normal after the bath in saltwater. Just rumpling is enough to get saltwater dry and thin hair looks thick. As sun, wind, heat and cold effects hair salt water also affects them. It is also a source of weathering hair. It breaks and tangles the hair. Conditioning and combing with care are the remedies to avoid the harms done by the weathering with salt water. Hair style gives you good look and impresses others who see you. It is of greater benefit for you to take extreme care of your hair. Saltwater can not be avoided but you should be aware of all kinds of preventive measures to save your hair from drying and weathering.
