More importantly - you need to pick something you’re going to stick with. There are many exercise programs for women so what do you like in the way of sports? Personally I went for running as it fit my schedule and I was able to do it alone or with friends. And then there’s golf - a sport for people who want to perform mild exercise.

You want to aim for something fun that you’ll keep committing to doing regularly. If it’s something you do not enjoy then forget it and move onto the next idea. Exercise programs for women and men can become quite expensive so be sure you like what you’re going to do before you get started. Simply walking to the shops and back is a very inexpensive and easy technique to go from a sedentary state to the beginnings of much better health and fitness.

To begin with try exercising about three to four times a week - muscles get sore very quickly with new workouts. Don’t go all out, and get frustrated because you can’t keep it up. Try to get to the point where you can exercise very easily every day. Don’t try to become a overnight superstar because reaching a level of fitness that you are satisfied with is hard, hard work!

Easy-going exercise such as walking continues to battle off heart disease, osteoporosis, high cholesterol and many types of cancer. It also helps you reduce the girth of your stomach line. It does not sound like much, but it will really tighten your whole body up. You will need the correct footwear before you embark on these walking expeditions to avoid blistering or shin/foot injuries. Yoga is very effective for toning your body and it’s really subtle when done correctly. It puts together traditional breathing and relaxation techniques with simple stretching techniques. It’s beneficial to use yoga in exercise programs for women especially when you’re sedentary - it’s very calm on your body. Yoga can be used with other effective exercise techniques like running, swimming or walking very easily.
