Exercising in cold weather: What is the best choice for you?

It isn't always easy to keep up with an exercise routine when the weather turns cold, but it can be done with some simple changes.

Will exercise in cold weather allow us to eat whatever we want?

Just because exercise has been added to the day may not mean we can indulge in all of our favorite foods. However, the more exercise one does, the more calories one burns!

What exercise can we do in cold weather?

While exercise alone may not keep everyone in shape, most think they feel better if they stay active in the cold weather.

Walking is an easy exercise that can be enjoyed at local malls if the weather is cold. Most malls encourage those who are now referred to as mall walkers to enjoy the comforts of the protected atmosphere while getting their exercise.

Many will enjoy membership to local gyms during cold weather. Here equipment is supplied that you may not have at home.

Walking a pet to get exercise is always a great idea in cold weather. Keeping a brisk step will help a person stay warm while giving a pet the exercise it needs.

Exercising at home is easy enough for most. Those who are able to be physically active have no excuse for not exercising. Videos and DVDs are available at most libraries without cost for anyone interested.

If it is cold but dry, riding a bike may work for some. Although it is sometimes too hot to ride a bike during the summer, cooler weather allows most the opportunity to use their bike. A few miles several times each week is all most people need.
