This article tell you about allergies and what you can do before it is too late. After consuming the food, it takes about fifteen minutes for you to feel the unfavourable reaction. Talk abouit it with your family, friends, chef and so on to protect yourself.

Food Allergy

Rice which is the staple food of most Asians can also cause allergy to a few people. I came across one case where a student was a taking only breads for his three meals every day. He told me he was allergic to rice. He would have breathing difficulty after taking a bowl of rice. The other minor allergic reactions are rashes, and itch on the mouth The severe and life threatening ones are choking, breathing difficulty, and severe drop in blood pressure.
Other known food which may cause allergy are fish, eggs, wheat, peanuts, tree nuts, melons, peas, tomatoes, turmeric, garlic, chickpeas, bird’s nest, cow’s milk crustacean, and wild leafy vegetables.
For normal people, the proteins from these food are well tolerated. For those who are allergic to them, the body cannot tolerate the proteins and thus allergic reaction takes place. Your immune system mistakes the proteins in the food as harmful and attacks against them. Your medical doctor can diagnose it with a pin prick test or RAST test which mean radioallergosorbent, a more sophisticated blood test.
Symptoms of food allergy are : anaphylaxis (fatal reaction), itchy skin, shortness of breath, chest pain, swelling of the airways to the lungs, rashes or hives, nausea, stomach pain, and diarrhea.
Even for those who have minor food intolerance like heartburn, diarrhea, headaches, nausea, stomach pains, gas, craps, bloating, vomiting the best and safest thing is to visit the nearest medical doctor and ask for his opinion.
Food intolerance is diagnosed by trial-and-error method. You may maintain a food diary and identify the food which causes discomfort to you personally. Whatever food you are allergic to, tell your family, friends and schools about it. Tell them exactly what food you are allergic to. If you eat out, ask the chef or the host about the ingredients they use.
At the moment, there is no cure for food allergies. Research is ongoing and hopefully we may find the cure in the near future.
