Food for Lowering Cholesterol

This articles is about foods that helps to lower your cholesterol and protect the body from heart disease and stroke.

Salmon

Salmon is rich with omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins A, C, B12, foliate, magnesium, potassium, selenium , phosphorus and other properties. The protein and omega-3 fatty acids helps to lower the LDL "bad" cholesterol and enhance the HDL "good" cholesterol which protects the arteries wall from plague accumulation. You can steam, baked or grill salmon.

Green Tea

Green tea is a cholesterol friendly medicine. It is rich with powerful vitamins, minerals and other powerful antioxidants. The property catechin and polyphenols is very effective in lowering "LDL "bad" cholesterol, preventing damage from free radical s and lowering total cholesterol level. you can have many cup of green tea daily but you must drink only decaffeinated at nights.

Barley

Barley is a whole grain cereal, it is rich in calcium, protein, iron, zinc, vitamin A, K, Foliate, choline magnesium, selenium, fibre and other nutrients. The pectin and beta-glycan and fibre found in barley, helps to lower LDL "bad" cholesterol and reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke. You can make barley soup, tea cereal and stew.

Cinnamon

Cinnamon is a very old and popular spice. It is rich with vitamins, A, K, fibre, calcium, magnesium, potassium and other nutrition's. The properties in cinnamon helps in lowering the LDL "bad" cholesterol, triglyceride and serum cholesterol level.
You can use cinnamon in porridge, cereal, milk and tea.

Leafy Greens Vegetables

Leafy green vegetables like spinach, cabbage, and lettuce are very with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. They are naturally low in calories and fat. The antioxidants and bĂȘte-carotene in these dark green vegetables helps to reduce cholesterol level. You can use these vegetables in salads, steamed or juiced.

Beans

Beans are nutritional powerhouse. They are rich with protein, fibre, iron, vitamins, foliate, potassium and phytonutrients. This help to lower blood cholesterol naturally. You can use them in salads, soup, and stew.

Oatmeal

Oatmeal is very rich with vitamin, K, iron, zinc, fibre, sodium, magnesium, selenium, manganese and choline. the high fibre and magnesium in oatmeal is very effective in lowering cholesterol level and slowing down plague accumulation in the blood vessels. Oatmeal porridge is a very popular winter breakfast with added fruits.
