Most people live stressful lives and the rise of generalized anxiety is surfacing all over the world including Montreal.

Anxiety issues

We live in trying times, and the hustle and bustle of daily life can bring on anxiety disorders. Montrealers are prone to anxiety disorders and other mental health issues.

According to a study produced by the University of Montreal, 40 percent of Canadians go to their general practitioners first and then onto other mental health professionals for anxiety issues. Montrealers will seek a psychologist faster than the people of other provinces.

Generalized anxiety

In other studies by Montreal researchers, it was shown that women have slightly more anxiety over having COPD then men. Anxiety affects every aspect of our lives.

In general Montreal women and women in the rest of Canada and the USA are twice as likely to have generalized anxiety than men. Generalized anxiety is characterized as at least six months of generalized worry over everyday problems.

Anxiety and anti-depressants

The problem is widespread and many Montrealers especially women are taking medication such as anti-anxiety drugs and anti-depressants combined with psychotherapy. Or Montrealers are treated by drug or psychotherapy alone.

The chances for improvement with treatment are very high; up to 90 percent. Unfortunately, not every Montrealer will go from therapy.
