Mango (Mangifera Indica) is a delicious tropical fruit which is grown mainly in the Indian subcontinent. It is popular all over the world. Mangoes account for nearly half of all tropical fruits produced worldwide. There are more than one thousand varieties of mangoes. This sweet fruit contains a large seed. Ripe mangoes can be eaten fresh. They are also used in making pickles, juices, etc. Mango is rich in various essential nutrients.

There are many health benefits of mango. It it rich in phytochemicals. Mango contains prebiotic dietary fiber. Pectin, a soluble dietary fiber contained in mango, lowers the risk of cancers of the gastrointestinal tract. Pectin also prevents stroke. Mango is found to be rich in essential vitamins like vitamin A, vitamin B6, vitamin C, vitamin E and vitamin K. The antioxidant vitamin C is famous for its cancer prevention properties.

Vitamin A in mango improved eye sight by effectively preventing refractive errors, itching, night blindness, dryness, softening of the cornea and burning of the eyes. Polyphenols are found in mango. They prevent cancer. Mango is rich in essential minerals like potassium, calcium, iron, selenium, magnesium and copper. It contains essential amino acids. Mango contains omega-3 and omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids. Mango is found to be effective in preventing prostate and skin cancers.

Various digestive enzymes in mango help in digestion by breaking down proteins. Mango is also effective in preventing acidity. Fiber content in mango prevents constipation. Mango is good for acne, as it is effective in relieving clogged pores of the skin. Regular consumption of mango is found to promote healthy soft and shining skin. Mango helps in maintaining healthy insulin levels in the body. Vitamin E in mango plays a major role in regulating sex hormones.

Regular consumption of mango is known to improve sex drive. Mango is good for people suffering from anaemia as it is rich in iron. It is also good for pregnant ladies for the same reason.
