Health Risks of Obesity
All of us know that health is very important. Nowadays, there are so many dangerous diseases which are threatening us. One of the reasons that cause diseases is obesity.
There are many people in the world are being obese. Some of them, know about the risks of obesity and the others don’t. However, they don’t intend to lose weight so they can easily get dangerous diseases.
So, what risks does obesity can bring to us? Right now, I’m going to tell you about them.
What is Obesity?
Obesity or overweight is a serious, chronic disease that can have a negative effect on many systems in your body. People who are overweight or obese have a much greater risk of developing serious conditions.
What are the risks of Obesity?
Obesity causes many harmful effects to our health. Here are they:
1. High Blood Pressure
Additional fat tissue in the body needs oxygen and nutrients in order to live, which requires the blood vessels to circulate more blood to the fat tissue. This increases the workload of the heart because it must pump more blood through additional blood vessels. More circulating blood also means more pressure on the artery walls. Higher pressure on the artery walls increases the blood pressure. In addition, extra weight can raise the heart rate and reduce the body's ability to transport blood through the vessels.
Being overweight or obese can lead to a buildup of plaque in your arteries. Eventually, an area of plaque can rupture, causing a blood clot to form. If the clot is close to your brain, it can block the flow of blood and oxygen to your brain and cause a stroke. The risk of having a stroke rises as BMI increases.
In women, being overweight contributes to an increased risk for a variety of cancers including breast cancer, colon, gallbladder, and uterus. Men who are overweight have a higher risk of colon cancer and prostate cancers.
Obesity is the major cause of type 2 diabetes. This type of diabetes usually begins in adulthood but, is now also occurring in children. Obesity can cause resistance to insulin, the hormone that regulates blood sugar. When obesity causes insulin resistance, the blood sugar becomes elevated. Even moderate obesity dramatically increases the risk of diabetes.
5. Metabolic syndrome
The National Cholesterol Education Program has identified metabolic syndrome as a complex risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Metabolic syndrome consists of six major components: abdominal obesity, elevated blood cholesterol, elevated blood pressure, insulin resistance with or without glucose intolerance, elevation of certain blood components that indicate inflammation, and elevation of certain clotting factors in the blood.
6. Sleep Apnea
Sleep apnea is a common disorder in which you have one or more pauses in breathing or shallow breaths while you sleep. A person who has sleep apnea may have more fat stored around the neck. This can narrow the airway, making it hard to breathe.
Osteoarthritis is a common joint problem of the knees, hips, and lower back. The condition occurs if the tissue that protects the joints wears away. Extra weight can put more pressure and wear on joints, causing pain.
Gallstones are hard pieces of stone-like material that form in the gallbladder. They're mostly made of cholesterol. Gallstones can cause stomach or back pain. People who are overweight or obese are at increased risk of having gallstones. Also, being overweight may result in an enlarged gallbladder that doesn't work well.
And there are many other harmful diseases that obesity causes. From now on, you should immediately prevent this threat to protect yourself and have a healthy body.
To prevent obesity, you should have a logical diet. Find yourself a suitable diet, go on it and never give up.
Do exercise regularly. Doing exercise not only helps you lose weight but it’s also good for your health.
Think positively. If you think about good things, you will have no stress. That means you can lose weight easier and quicker.
On the other hand, if you don’t have any spare time to do anything above, or basically want to lose weight fast without exercise in a week for example, so how about diet pills?
Using diet pills or weight loss pills is one of the ways that people use widely. Their results that they brought were quite good. There are kinds of diet pills for you to choose but make sure that you have a right choice.
