A National Health System is necessary for everyone regardless of one's status or income. This is a difference between a backward society and a modern and fair one.

Health care is a right to be kept

Since the cuts on expenditure started to be implemented in many European countries, health employees have been out to fight and to defend on what's every citizen's right in a civilized country regardless of their status or income.
It's, for instance, what public employees within the Spanish National Health system chanted in all their demonstrations and strikes. ''Public health care isn't on sale. It's defended!''
One may wish to have its own health care in a posh and expensive private clinic if they have the money to pay for it, but not everyone has the requested money for private health care. Thus, a national health system is needed for people who can't afford to pay for a private one.
One may think that a national health system is way too costly for the State and that the State can't afford such expense, but when one goes to a GP or is going to to undergo an operation, this consultation with a GP or this operation that one is going to undergo has already been paid via the taxes of all sorts that all of us pay in every civilized country.
Health is something that every human being is entitled to as well as education or housing.
It isn't a matter of implementing cuts on things that a majority of people need most, but to rationalize the money to be spent and to start with they should reduce on prime ministers and ministers' salaries as well as cutting down on the privileges that go with their posts.
While private health care is a huge business to make some companies rich, national health systems are necessary for every citizen. This is what makes a difference between a backward society and a modern and fair one.
