Honey, I've Found Someone Else

No, it's not another man, honey! It's carob, my new favorite yum-yum!

Carob powder, my new cocoa.

No, it's not another man. It's a bean from a legume tree that is roasted and used as a substitute for cocoa.

In my early 30's, I realized that I was allergic to cocoa. Any time I ate chocolate, I would break out with the itchy scratchies. After much research, I learned that many people were allergic to it. Be thankful if you are not.

Then I learned about carob. If you've ever eaten Sixlets, then you know what it tastes like. Sixlets have both carob and cocoa in them. The weird fruity taste of the Sixlets is the carob in them. I happen to LOOOVE sixlets.

My friend found some carob powder at a health food store and bought it for me. So far I have had hot carob ( cocoa) carob milk, coffee carob mocha, and carob ice cream syrup. I'm in love.

Carob powder contains no fat, and no caffeine. It is naturally sweet, and you don't need to put as much sugar in your recipes. You can substitute carob powder for cocoa in any recipe, just using 1 1/2 to 2 times more powder.

I have been using carob for about a month now, and I'm more in love every day!

If you are allergic to chocolate, try carob. You just might like it better anyway!
