Summer months have come up. Summer makes the atmosphere hotter and more humid. The heat of the sun affects the skin of the body. Many people will their skin turn more oily which makes them uneasy. How to avoid oily skin in summer?

As the summer months move on, the atmosphere becomes hotter. Humidity in the air is also increasing. The warm weather brings plenty of activities. Sundresses, ice cream parties, outdoor enjoyments, etc. make the season more delightful. But the hot and humid weather has great impact on the skin. It becomes oily, melting the makeup.

Why does the skin become oily in summer?
The hot and humid weather of summer leads to an increase in oil production from sebaceous glands of the body. The production of sebum in the body is a complex mix of dead skin cells and lipids (fats) which lubricate the skin and protect it from dehydration and the environment. When they are in excess it may be useful to the body. Rather it makes the surface of the face look oily. This excess oil also clogs the pores on the skin. Even if the skin does not produce much oil, the humidity in the summer air the oil substance on the face remain for a longer time. It is mixed with sweat and makes the face look greasier.

Tips to prevent oily skin

1) Cleaning the skin often helps very much. Face can be washed at least twice a day, using glycerin soap. Splashing cool water on face several times provides freshness and removes oil.

2) There are many lotions and moisturizers available in market. Lighter lotions can help. Moisturizers can be used only when the skin is dry.

3) Face touch up can prevent excess shining of oil. Tissue papers or blotting papers may be used for touching up. Dusting the face lightly with translucent powders adds beauty to the face.

4) Dermatologists suggest using a salicylic acid or exfoliating cleanser every other day to avoid excess oil on face. Addition of mattifying lotions under make absorbs oil substance. This kind of lotions remain on the face for a longer period.

Protection of skin in summer is very important not only to prevent skin problems but also to keep the face fresh and beautiful. If there is some serious problem a dermatologist can be consulted.
