Websites to inspire

Sometimes life can get too difficult to handle and it seems there is no way to escape the 'black dog' of depression, as described by Winston Churchill. Maybe depression isn't the problem and you've just had a tough day, but regardless we all sometimes need something to remind us of the beauty and gift of life; something to make us see hope for the future.

Gives me hope

Recently my friend told me about a website called 'Gives me hope', where people recount and share the things that give them hope. Of course some are very sad, yet all show a silver lining and all reflect how these events have in some way helped them and given them a new found love for life. There are some truly inspirational stories on this website, and now whenever I feel myself taking life for granted and losing hope, this website restores my faith in humanity and in the joy of life.

Karmatube

Another website is 'Karmatube', through which people can see the acts of others and be inspired to do the same and contribute to the world. One of my friends had been struggling for a while with difficulties linked to alcohol, and she told me she wanted to change but couldn't take the first step. I directed her to this website and she hasn't touched a drop for over a month and has taken up volunteering with the hope of doing a child studies degree. This website is really good for people who want to see how literally anyone can make something of their life.

CNN Heroes

This website documents those people who make a difference everyday and inspire others with their actions. You can read about people from all over the world who have gone out there and done what they wanted to do. You can also see what inspires them, meaning this site is all the more poignant.
