You can prevent diabetes by following some easy steps.

What do I do?

Diabetes is a disease that spreads like fire in modern society. Recent statistics have shown that 1 out of 3 people suffer from a diabetic condition at some point in their life.

This is a warning!

The main causes of diabetes are obesity and unbalanced diet. The good news is, however, that diabetes can be prevented through lifestyle changes. This change involves adopting a balanced diet with an adequate number of food portions and regular exercise.
Unfortunately, most people rely on medication and insulin to keep their diabetes under control. This is one of the most common mistakes that many patients make.

Here are some tips to lower glucose levels and prevent diabetes.

Those who run a high risk of developing diabetes should avoid pastries. This especially includes cakes, cookies or other sweets. This food contains a higher amount of sugar and flour, therefore it produces an excessive amount of insulin, which is not good.

Diabetics need to consume quality proteins. Proteins combined with carbohydrates help stabilize blood sugar. Also it increases the levels of glucagon, a hormone that helps burn fat calories. Those who are prone to develop diabetes should consume more egg whites or lean meats, such as chicken or fish.

Diabetes can also be prevented by eating fruits and vegetables which are rich in fiber. Most people nowadays do not eat enough fruits and vegetables, although they have a healing power that can not be replaced by anything else. This is a simple way to reduce risk for diabetes. Recent data shows that 70% of deaths in America occur because of an illness that can be linked to unhealthy diet. This is the main reason for putting so much emphasis on the importance of healthy eating.

Exercise. Regular exercise is of equal importance. It helps blood circulation, lowers cholesterol, reduces blood pressure and it maintains a healthy body mass index
