Hunger

I tell what it's like to go with little food to pay a bill or have gas in the car to look for a new job.

I Know What it is Like to Be Hungry

As I sit here writing this, I realize what little food I have left, may last me two more days. Thank God I have no one else to worry about. How did I let myself get in this situation? One month ago I had a job waiting tables in a Chinese restaurant. I couldn't stand the long hours on my feet with no real breaks. I was lucky if I could sit down 5 minutes. For two years I worked there doing 12 hour shifts, 3 days in a row. Occasionally I would pic up more hours when someone else called in sick. Toward the end of my working there, my legs began to swell. I was so exhausted when I was off, all I wanted to do was sleep. Today I came up with a new way of cooking my green beans, that have been in my freezer. My neighbor helped me pick them from her garden. I have green beans and frozen strawberries left in my refrigerator's freezer. I might be able to stretch two more days out. I feel like I should have toughed it out working like I was. Mind you, business wasn't that good and tips were going down. I started my own business cleaning houses and doing odd jobs for people. So far I haven't got enough work to keep my bills up and buy more food. I am behind on my rent. Thank goodness I got all my animals enough food to last on more month. I think I'll call my old job and ask if I an come back and only work one shift. I would rather not go back there, because waitresses were also responsible for work that the cashier or salad bar person should have been hired to do. In the other restaurants I worked in waitresses did not clean bathrooms, or keep the salad and desert bars full and clean. I wont give up on my house cleaning and odd jobs either. I also do other things online to earn money. Nothing is working out like I had hoped. I have had it so hard, since a job I had a few years ago closed down. When my old job closed in 2009, I couldn't find another job for 7 months. I was behind on my rent for 4 months, but my landlords worked with me to let me stay. My landlady threatened the man who was supposed to be my husband so he would catch the rent up. She can't do that this time, because we have no idea where he is. If not for the large bags of bread they gave me to freeze and the plantains and dandelion greens I ate, I would have starved. I lost a lot of weight, but did not want my parents to know the real reason. Since I was worried about getting fat all the time, I let them think I lost the weight from dieting. I guess I will have fried green beans and plantains tomorrow. Plantains are wild greens growing in my yard and they are very healthy. I definitely know what it's like to go hungry.

I feel you. I know how hard it is to have no food available in the fridge or eating the same old food over and over again.

May be you can try Bubblews- it won't cover very big expenses, but it would add to your overall income?
