How I lost 100 lbs and improved the quality of my health drastically. An easy to follow diet and exercise regime that will help you to lose weight and improve the quality of your health.

Hidden Calories

Most people fail to realize what they are drinking may contain as many if not more calories and fat grams than what they are eating. If you switch to low fat, but don't stop drinking soda, then you've missed the boat. These "hidden calories" are often the reason why people fail to lose weight when dieting. Then they get disappointed and give up.

Water

Water is really the key to losing weight. If you drink 8-10 glasses of water a day and eat in moderation, then you will definitely lose weight. You won't lose it overnight, but you will definitely lose weight. Not just lose weight, but keep it off. Don't wait until you're thirsty to grab a glass. By the time you start to feel thirsty, your body is in the beginning stages of "dehydration". Water can also help eliminate cravings and make you feel "fuller" so you eat less at meal time.

Fizzy Drinks

Carbonated fizzy drinks such as Pepsi or Coca Cola are loaded with calories, sugar, and fat. They are known as "empty calories". These items often contain high in calories, but are not filling. You can be adding 500-1000 calories a day to your diet just by having a couple cans of soda.

Don't think fruit juices are better either. They are often as loaded with sugar and calories as sodas are.

It doesn't mean you can never have these drinks, but it is important you limit how many you have in a week. When you do have them, make sure it is sugar and caffeine free. These are often lower in calories and fat than their regular alternatives.

Choosing drinks such as Crystal Lite or ice tea sweetened with a sugar substitute are a healthy alternative to soda. However, these are not substitutes to your daily water intake. These drinks are to be had in addtion to 8-10 glasses of water a day.

Exercise

Due to a car accident when I was a teenager, I am not able to exercise like they do in many of the workout videos. I found yoga to be a great workout substitute. There are numerous videos that you can buy or download free online. If you have never tried yoga, then don't dismiss it without at least trying one 30 minute workout. You might not feel like you're doing anything during it, but your muscles will tell a different story when you get up the next day. You will most likely be sore in places you didn't know you had.

It is important you do some form of timed exercise at leat 2-3 times a week. Whether it's a 30 minute workout video, yoga, or simply walking for 30 minutes. This will help you to burn the excess weight that you have collected over the years. Being healthy is about more than just being skinny.

Putting It Altogether

Losing weight is not something you do in six weeks. If you want to lose weight and keep it off, then you have change your diet long term. There is no magic pill or plan that will make you lose weight and keep it off. The key to long term weight loss is moderation. Learning to stop eating when you're full, portion control, and not depriving yourself are key elements of a successful diet plan.

Even having a designated cheat day or cheat treat will help to keep you motivated on track throughout the rest of the week. Losing weight is about the big picture and if you get stuck on a single frame, then you won't succeed. By changing your over all diet plan, it is much easier to get back on track once you slip up. You will slip up. When you do, don't be hard on yourself. Everyone does it whether they admit it or not. Just get back on track and keep looking forward.

If you do all of these things, then I guarantee you will lose weight. I lost 100 lbs by using these overall diet methods and I have kept it off for over 7 years now. I am certain you can too.
