Women who are taking hormone therapy should be taking small dosages only because they may be at risk for breast cancer.

Mention the word cancer and Montrealers practically tremble. Most of us of a certain age have lost loved one or have loved ones and friends who are battling cancer as we speak. Another issue that affects Montreal women just like women everywhere is menopause. Menopause comes with a series of its own problems; now imagine combining the two together and you have a real horror show on your hands.

Breast cancer

New research pointing to hormone therapy for menopause is leading to more cases of breast cancer. Well the world of science already knew that the hormone estrogen and progestin was a risk for breast cancer. So many Montrealers choose not to take these pills during their time of menopause. Many Montrealers chose to suffer it out such as I do.

Hormone therapy

However, doctors were under the assumption that women who no longer had a uterus could safely take this hormone therapy. It appears that they cannot. As a result, these women were only given estrogen therapy. It was felt that not only was the hormone safe, but that it might also have some benefits attached to it as well.

The latest research also showed that taken these hormones for over 10 years put women at a greater risk for breast cancer than it did for women who took the hormone for a lesser period of time. The remedy that doctors suggest is for women to take the lowest dose for the shortest period of time. These hormones pills are not a recipe for life.

Menopause can start at any age and here is a thing, it is a natural thing. It is what you ingest that causes cancer not a natural bodily phenomenon.
Many women have had hysterectomies at young ages and have lived a fulfilled life.

It is said in Brazil, the women of the sex trade are mostly with hysterectomies to make them spin more money for the Mother Superiors (I call them that) within. Now they are at risk of HIV too not just cancer.

None the less, I don't go by the logic as a friend of mine was about 31-32 when she had a hysterectomy. because of inflammed ovaries. That was after her childbirth. Yes, she was discovered with lumps in her breasts too apart from being suicidal.

Thanks for highlighting such important details. There always seems to be a down side to every good cause.
