In recent years the pumpkin has become popular because of it's health benefits. For those of you that have not thought about adding the pumpkin to your diet you should reconsider. Like it's cousin, the squash, pumpkins are versatile and can be used to make a variety of dishes. Below are a few ways you can eat of drink the pumpkin.

Smoothie

If you thought a pumpkin would not make a great smoothie you were wrong. Below is a recipe for a smoothie that is made out of pumpkin.

Materials
1. Blender
2. Can Opener

Ingredients
1. A half of canned pumpkin
2. One cup of unsweetened coconut milk
3. One tablespoon of almond butter or coconut butter
4. One teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice
5. One teaspoon of organic maple syrup
6. One scoop of pea protein powder
7. 3-4 ice cube

Directions
1. Put the ingredient in the blender in the order above and whip until smooth

Adding Pumpkin to Your Oatmeal

Oatmeal is a healthy option for breakfast but adding pumpkin can make your even healthier. This recipe is really simple, you make your oatmeal the way you want to make it and add two teaspoons of warm canned pumpkin. The pumpkin should be mixed with one teaspoon of organic maple syrup and half a teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice.

Hummus

Adding pumpkin to hummus is a very popular thing to the reci'pe is below.

Materials
1. Foods processor

Ingredients
1. A half of cup of chick peas
2. Two tablespoons of tahini and canned pumpkin
3. One teaspoon of minced garlic
4. A tablespoon of lemon juice, preferably self squeezed.
5. A sixteenth of a tablespoon of cayenne pepper, black pepper, and cumin


Directions
1. Put the ingredients into your food processor and puree until the mixture is smooth. You can also served your hummus with vegetables if you like.
