We have just discussed some of the accidents that can occur due to various things present in the home.

Doctor and treatment

Accidents can our occur anywhere, at home, on the road, in the school, while playing or doing some experiment in the laboratory, etc. when these calamities occur, they must be attended immediately in order to prevent further damage. Before actual medical aid can be secured, something must be done to help the injured person.

The treatment in emergency

A doctor is not always available on the spot, he has to be sent for. If nothing is done between the time of the injury and the arrival of the medical aid, the injury or the accident may have disastrous effect. Under such conditions some treatment is given on the spot which is called first aid. It is the treatment in emergency.

Simple First Aid

First aid is an emergency treatment. It has the following range of action-
1) It determines the nature of the case requiring attention. 2) It decides the character and the extent of the treatment which can be given on the spot. 3) It includes the arrangement to take the injured person to either home or to hospital.

One of the rules of first aid is stop the bleeding. Apply pressure to various spots and hold it until help arrives.

Another rule is see that the patient is breathing. Hopefully knowing and practicing the basics of CPR is known and applied.

Know your limits if in extreme doubt, ask others for help. May God grant you the wisdom to know the difference between the things you can do and the things that are beyond your ability.
