One won´t go wrong eating seasonal and local produce, because it´s a lot fresh and cheap.

Seasonal and local food to enjoy most

The wild mushrooms as shown on photograph are the most popular ones to eat. They´re at their best now in food markets and greengrocery shops, although, there won´t be many of them, because, like berries, this is fruit from the forests and they need rain to spring up when the rain ceases.
These popular wild mushrooms are great to have by themselves grilled and spiced with a pinch of salt, freshly ground black pepper, chopped garlic and parsley and a good drizzle of olive oil. But they will also be great in a beef casserole.
The minute Summer is over and the rainy season starts, it´s common to see people going to the forests, baskets in hand, to pick wild musrooms, but one shouldn´t do this unless one knows well every variety that grows in the forests. Some are good for eating, but others are deadly posionous. If one´s skilled on such an activity, one should distinguish which ones are good or not good for eating.
However, Autumn is the season to also enjoy food such as pumpkins, a variety of root vegetables, couliflowers, mandarines, oranges, juicy pears, apples, oranges and white fish, because the blue one such as sardines, mackerel or anchovies are fish for Summer. At this time of the year, they are scarce and their price goes up, but on the contrary, it´s the best time for white, big fish such as hake or sole.
As I wrote in my article ´´You don´t have to be rich to be in good shape´´, eating well to be healthy and in good shape, it´s a matter of education on nutrition and to know how to cook, but it´s also a matter of getting fresh seasonal and local produce, which is a lot cheaper. It´s no point in wanting to eat out of season produce or those foods that are grown in distant lands.
We should eat seasonal and local produce and we´ll ensure to eat the best produce at an affordable price.
