Second Opinion

We all need medical care and choosing your medical care giver is a very important decision. What happens when you have doubts about the advice given by your doctor and when is it time to ask for a second opinion?

Doctor -Patient Relationship

Are you satisfied by the care that your doctor provides and when is it necessary to ask for a second opinion from a different one?

The reason why I am asking this is because of a recent case where a friend of mine encountered with her general practitioner. She has gone to see him for her yearly check up and after they had a dialogue, he suggested that she should see a counselor and she insisted that she was okay and did not want to talk to anybody on the material day.

What came out as out of character is that her doctor agreed to reschedule an appointment for her but when she went to the pharmacy to retrieve her supplements she found a counselor waiting there for her with her file and still insisted on talking to her.

My friend walked away in anger and wanted some advice on what to do on this matter since she could not understand why the doctor could not just accept her not needing to see a counselor.

Doctor patient relationship is actually too important and it is necessary to be comfortable with the person who can actually help you overcome pain.

When then do you decide to entrust yourself to a different doctor and build a relationship and are you at liberty not to take advice that is given or is it mandatory?

I am introverted and enjoy spending time in quite places and thus I have adopted reading as a second nature and I have just now began to write and I love to cook.

In my opinion one should follow the doctor's advice. If your disease is of a serious nature, going for a second opinion is good. Any how, don't neglect the advice of the doctor.
