Brewer's yeast for acne problems

We will now conclude the series on acne by looking at brewer's yeast and other self help strategies.

Brewer’s yeast

There is a strain of brewer’s yeast called CBS 5926. it may help reduce acne. Brewer’s yeast contains vitamin B, proteins and other minerals. The yeast cells absorb the excess oil production. Brewer’s yeast can also provide younger looking skin.

As a cautionary note: You must understand that there is still much research needed to prove the effectiveness of supplements. Please make sure that you talk to you doctor before using any home remedy or alternative medicine. Some of these methods may conflict with the medication you are taking already. These medications can be for anything not just acne.

Light therapy for acne

Once you have had a bout with acne and have been treated for it, you may still need to continue your medication for awhile to avoid further outbreaks. You may also need to have some light therapy treatments. You doctor will discuss what you can do to prevent outbreaks.

Self strategies for preventing acne

There are also self care strategies that you can use to prevent further outbreaks.

When you wash your skin, use only a gentle cleanser. Don’t touch or pick at your acne. You have to find the right balance for washing your skin. It is recommended that you wash the acne area twice a day. This will remove the excess oil that accumulates. However, if you wash too much, you can irritate your skin. Make sure that all the products you use are non-greasy water-based products.

The best over-the-counter products to use for acne, are those that contain salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. Don’t use heavy make-up, you will not be hiding your acne, you may be triggering it especially if the cosmetics are oil based.

You can also do the following things:

  • Use cosmetic powders, they will dry up the excess oil. Make sure you wash your face thoroughly and remove all make up before you go to bed. You don’t want the make up to clog up your pores. Wash your makeup brushes applicators, and pads with soapy water.

  • Shower after exercising or doing strenuous activity to remove sweat that will clog up your pores

  • Wear loose clothing and if possible don’t let anything touch your skin like cellphones, backpacks, helmets, straps and so on.

Remember to seek the advise from a dermatologist if you are worried about acne. There are many products on the market but it doesn't mean that they are all good products.

Well, I just cut out crisps and fried food and used toothpaste and Saint Ives to wash my skin.
Yes, I use volcanic mud and even go without make up as make up clogs the pores irrespective of whatever. I don't even use lipstick.
I learnt it from my best friend and greatest love of all time during my teen years and as soon as my skin break out started I took precautions on my diet and even at 36, I look like a teenager with a perfect figure and clear skin. My profile picture on Facebook is a natural look BTW, without make up or lipstick.
Any way, my friend cried for his face during the time he had pimples but what he told me helped me have the clearest of skins and I used that to help my family too.

You do know I am a model and make up is my way of life. I test my make up products before use.
