Anxiety attacks can cause a lot of panic and sadness with pounding heart beats, dizziness, shortness of breath and a fogged mind. One of the best ways to relieve and treat an anxiety attack naturally is making and sipping on a homemade soothing herbal tea.

The ingredients needed to make a homemade soothing herbal tea are a tablespoon each of dried chamomile flowers, peppermint leaves, passionflower, hops, St. John's Wort and lavender. All ingredients should be organic and fresh. You should be able to find these ingredients at your local herbal shop.

The materials needed to make this herbal tea are a medium jar, spoon, small mesh tea ball, a teakettle filled with water, a large teapot and a teacup. If you do not have these materials on hand you can find them at any local kitchen shop.

Blending the Herbs

To make the soothing herbal tea measure out of the herbs and place them into the jar and combine them together with a spoon until they are evenly blended together. Then measure out a tablespoon of the loose leaf herbal tea you just made and place it carefully into the mesh tea ball and close it up. Next, place the mesh tea ball into the teapot and boil some water in the teakettle on top of the stove. Once the water has boiled pour it into the teapot with the mesh tea ball inside and allow the tea to steep for a good 15 minutes to draw out the medicinal sedative calming properties in the herbs. When the tea is ready it will have a soothing mint chamomile scent, a mild herbal flavor and a light golden yellowish color.

Drinking the Soothing Herbal Tea

Once the soothing herbal tea is ready simply pour it into a small teacup and add in a teaspoon or two of honey and sip it down slowly until the cup is gone. Within 20 minutes of drinking the soothing herbal tea your anxiety should begin to go away and your mind and body should begin to calm down. You may drink as many cups of this soothing tea as needed to relieve an anxiety attack, but beware it does tend to make you drowsier with each cup. It is best to stay at home or in a quiet place to rest if you do plan on having more than one cup of this soothing herbal tea.

Those of you who are allergic to the herbs in this soothing herbal tea should not make it or use it to relieve and treat your anxiety attacks naturally. Those with severe anxiety should speak to a doctor about proper treatments. Those of you wit certain medical conditions and on medications should also speak with a doctor before using this herbal tea since it can interact with some medications and medical conditions.
