Sport is not only stabilizing sugar level for people with diabetes but also cure the disease.


Sport is an important thing should be done by people with diabetes. If it is done correctly and measurable, exercise can stabilize blood sugar levels, even it can cure the disease.

According to Grace Tumbelaka, a specialist sports, sports that aims to build muscle is known to overcome and prevent type 2 of diabetes.

Grace also added that type 2 of diabetes is caused by the inability of glucose or sugar from food into the cells. In fact, glucose is the main energy source for tissue and muscle.

Sports play an important role for people with diabetes, because it can stabilize blood sugar while improving insulin resistance is considered as the cause of diabetes type 2. If pancreas produces insulin normally, then ability of sugar to enter the cells of the body will be good.

Sport for people with diabetes and when they can do it?

Weight training is appropriate sport for people with diabetes, because it can improve muscle mass of the body. But, they should take other exercises using body weight such as sit ups and push ups.

Grace said, weight training should be done after 30 minutes of aerobic exercise. Aerobic exercise is important for stretching all the muscles of the body.

When people with diabetes can take up the sport?

Grace says, people with diabetes who have high blood sugar levels (above 250 mg / dL), they should to avoid sports until their sugar levels drop below 200 mg / dL. It is also important to avoid the risk of metabolic disorder called ketosis. The condition is very harmful to the patient, even they could collapse. So when blood sugar levels above 250 mg / dL, the patient should not do strenuous exercise. Lower blood sugar levels first, and then rearrange the training program according to the patient's condition.
