Here are some tried and tested tips to help you shed the pounds

Here are some tips which I thought I would write to help you on your mission to lose weight

1) Decide why you want to lose weight. Are you happy as you are? Are you unhappy enough to want to start the journey? Attitude is key
2) Think about how your self image. If you tell yourself 'I am the fat one', 'this is just my shape' or 'my metabolism has slowed down so I'll always be round' these are going to stand in your way. Don't let these 'mental tapes' be an obstacle to your weight loss
3) Don't berate yourself if you keep trying to lose weight but fall off the wagon each time. That's to be expected. It's not about going on a 'diet' as such, but developing a healthy lifestyle over a period of time - the effects of long-term bad choices will only be reversed with repeated good choices, so be patient
4) Don't eat late at night. Charlize Theron reportedly ate around 10pm at night to put on weight for her role in Monster. 7 or 8pm is a good deadline to aim for, if you can eat by 6pm that would be even better
5) Recognise you really are what you eat - if you don't want to be fat, don't eat fat - as in unhealthy fats. Healthy fats would include avocados and nuts
6) Find an enjoyable way to get active - if you find exercise boring, work it into your day - walking to the shops would be one example. Also try wearing trainers vs other shoes to make the walk less arduous
7) Be aware of calories, for example how many there are in a slice of white bread. You don't want to be calorie obsessed, but realise that if you don't burn off the calories you consume they'll be stored as fat. Replace higher calorie foods with lower calories options, for example the amount in a slice of bread
8) Up your water intake, to increase your metabolism - plus it really makes your skin glow! A large bottle per day helped me lose a stone, and carrying it around with you is an incentive to drink it - the more you drink, the less weight you'll have to carry! It may help to buy your seven bottles for the week on one shopping trip
9) Stay active at home - don't become a couch potato! If you work from home, take regular eye breaks from the computer to encourage you to move around
10) Accept yourself as you are, but look forward to losing the weight. It may help to have a dress or pair of trousers visible which you want to be able to fit into by a certain date. Realise you alone are in control of what you eat, and you CAN lose the weight! Take charge! Good luck!

Eating late at night, lack of sleep, and not enough water (or exercise) are the four things I need to work on. Your tips seem very plain-sense and easy, but change is never easy!!
